SOUND INSULATION STRUCTURE FOR TRANSVERSELY MOUNTED ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively reduce a noise intruded into a cabin or leaked outside a vehicle while using simple and inexpensive structure, when a diesel engine is laid horizontally in a front part of the vehicle and when a fuel injection pump is attached to be fixed. ;SOLUTION: The fuel injection pump 14 is arranged in a front side of a vehicle body in the engine 1 mounted horizontally. A front end side of a cooling water pippe 34 for discharging cooling water from a cylinder head 4 of the engine 1 is extended from a right side of the body in the injection pump 14 to its front side. A rubber upper hose 35 is connected to a front end part of the pipe 34, and the upper hose 35 is arranged to neighbor on the front side of the vehicle body in the pump 14. A sound insulation cover 46 is provided to cover an area ranging over from an upper side of a cylinder head cover 5 of the engine 1 to an upper side of the injection pump 14, a front half portion of the cover 48 is kept in an abutting condition with the upper hose 35, and an operation noise of the pump 14 is dampedly insulated by the insulation cover 46, the upper hose 35 and the like.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
