PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shield tunneling machine for a shallow cross section tunnel capable of excavating a tunnel having a shallow cross section while carrying out shield propulsion so as not to bring out an unexcavated zone projecting to the inward side of the tunnel and reducing the construction period of time and cost. ;SOLUTION: This shield tunneling machine for a shallow cross section tunnel is provided with a circular main cutter disk 4, a rotary driving mechanism 5 circularly driving the main cutter disk 4, a pair of swinging cutters 6 disposed at both sides of the main cutter disk 4 and formed to have almost the same shape with that in the tunnel section stuck out to both sides of the main cutter disk 4, a pair of swing drive mechanisms 7 swinging the swinging cutters 6, a plurality of small diameter disks 8 excavating the remaining unexcavated tunnel sections by the main cutter disk 4 and the pair of swinging cutters 6, and a rotary drive mechanism 9 for the small diameter cutter disks.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
