PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To express desired acoustic information with high precision using music instrument digital interface(MIDI) data and to display the information in a musical note form. ;SOLUTION: MIDI data are displayed as a set triangular note graphic Z on the display screen, wherein the axis of ordinate is a scale axis (S) nd the axis of abscissas is a time axis (t). The up and down positions of the base of the graphic Z indicate a musical scale (a note number N1), the left and right positions indicate playing timing t1 to t2 and a height Von of the graphic Z indicates a playing strength (a velocity). A phase angle θ during reproduction is specified using the data that indicate the channel number in the MIDI data. The angle θ set for the graphic Z is shown as the display color of the graphic Z. While reproducing the graphic Z, the sound based on acoustic waveform W (N1) in a prescribed MIDI sound source is displayed by shifting for the time equivalent to the angle θ with respect to the timing t1.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
