PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a reinforcing work method capable of reducing cost by installing a reaction base in each bridge pier to install an arch rib and forcibly displacing both end faces to the inside horizontal direction and raising the support point to be brought into contact with the under face of the upper structure. ;SOLUTION: A rail is laid from the outside of a viaduct to the lower side and an arch rib 2 is set up at the side of the viaduct 6 on a supporting. The arch rib 2 is made of steel pipes or steel material having a I-shaped section. In case of steel pipes, concrete is filled in the pipe to increase the rigidity. Then, it is laterally transferred to install the arch rib 2 under a viaduct 6. A bracing beam 5 is connected to the upper end of the arch rib 2, and the reaction base is installed in the foot of the bridge pier 1. The reaction base is made of H-shaped steel and a RC structure. A flat jack is put between the reaction base and the base end face of the arch rib 2. A forcible horizontal displacement to the A-arrow mark is given to the foot of both ends of the arch rib 2 to raise the support point B of a main girder.
