PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary excitation control method for an AC excited synchronous machine in which operation can be sustained for a long time without stopping the AC excited synchronous machine when a load is interrupted.;SOLUTION: When a load is interrupted, excitation of an exciting transformer 5 is switched by means of a switch 14 from AC excitation with a frequency proportional to the variable speed width of an AC excited synchronous machine 100 to low frequency excitation allowable for the exciting transformer 5 based on the output from a low frequency excitation command unit 23. Since the output voltage from the AC excited synchronous machine 100 increasing in proportion to the rotational speed N thereof does not reach the output from the exciting transformer 5, the AC excited synchronous machine 100 can sustain operation.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
