TREATMENT OF COAL ASH DISCHARGED FROM COAL-FIRED POWER PLANT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively utilize coal ash by pulverizing the coal ash which is discharged from a coal-fired power plant and contains cinder ash and fly ash, into a fine powder consisting of spherical particles and supplying the fine powder as the fly ash for concrete. SOLUTION: This treatment process comprises: pulverizing the whole amount of coal ash which is discharged from a coal-fired power plant and stored in a raw material powder silo 10 and contains cinder ash and fly ash, into a fine powder consisting of spherical particles with a pulverizer 11 such as a ball mill or a vibratory mill; and transferring the fine powder, together with an air stream that functions as a classifier, to a fine powder silo 12 and storing the fine powder in the silo 12, to supply the fine powder as the fly ash for concrete and to utilize it as a product; wherein the air flow of an air blower 13 for generating an air stream within the pulverizer 11 is adjusted, to control flow velocity of air passing through the pulverizer 11 and to control fineness of the fine powder. Thus, such coal ash which is an off-JIS-specification material, can be utilized as valuables to reduce the amount of waste to be subjected to landfill disposal.
