CULTURED CELL OF SWEET POTATO CONTAINING ANTHOCYANIN PIGMENT IN HIGH CONCENTRATION AND CULTIVATION OF THE SAME CELL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new cultured cells created by culturing sweet potato tissue comprising an anthocyanin pigment, comprising the anthocyanin pigment in a high content, not requiring light when propagating the cells and accumulating anthocyanin, and useful e.g. for producing a natural pigment.;SOLUTION: The new sweet potato cultured cells comprising an anthocyanin pigment in a high content are created by culturing sweet potato tissue comprising the anthocyanin pigment, and light is not required when propagating the cells and accumulating anthocyanin. The cultured cells are useful for the efficient planned production of the anthocyanin pigment in a short time which is a natural pigment used for coloring foods, cosmetics, or the like, and having high safety. The cultured cells are obtained by including a callus from the root tuber of a sweet potato variety, Ayamurasaki and by repeatedly selecting cell lines comprising anthocyanin in a high concentration.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
