Processes and systems to reduce the audible transfer effect on at least one link in the traffic channel of an air radio interface of a cellular radio system, and to reduce the audible transfer effect on a digital cellular radio system
"PROCESSES AND SYSTEMS TO REDUCE THE AUDIBLE EFFECT OF TRANSFER BY AT LEAST ONE LINK IN THE TRAFFIC CHANNEL OF AN AIR RADIO INTERFACE OF A CELLULAR RADIO SYSTEM, AND TO REDUCE THE AUDIBLE TRANSFER EFFECT IN A DIGITAL RADIO SYSTEM. Audible effects of transferring a mobile subscriber station (M1, 22) in a digital cellular system, are eliminated both on the uplink (UL) and on the downlink (DL) by implementing discontinuous transmission (DTX) within the system over any one or both geometric axes. A voice activity detector (VAD) monitors whether non-transparent voice or data is originating from a user and, otherwise, that user's transmission is interrupted and only a single SID frame is transmitted during each SACCH period to update the characteristics of background noise being generated at the other user's receiver. Once determined by the system that a transfer from a mobile station needs to be carried out (32), that transfer is delayed until the user on the link on which DTX is implemented is not speaking or emitting non-transparent data (34) ensuring that the other user is receiving comfort noise being generated in your receiver and thus you will not hear any audible effect of the transfer.
