The Method of the present Invention provides an improvement on the methods of carbonylation of methanol in the prior art.It substantially reduces the production of carbonyl impurities.The production of carbonyl impurities, in particular adetaldehido, CROTONALDEHYDE and 2-ethyl CROTONALDEHYDE, in methanol carbonylation reactions, has been shown to decrease.Maintaining a hydrogen partial pressure of between about 0.1 and 4 psia (0.68 and 27.5 kPa abs.To provide a total reaction from about 15 to about 40 Atmospheres (1.5 to 4.05 MPa) of total reaction pressure.
