Irregular combustion process detection method for multicylinder diesel internal combustion engine

The invented detection method of irregular combustion processes in a multicylinder diesel internal combustion engine is characterized in that combustion noises are picked up individually for each cylinder by making use of at least one sound sensor inside a predetermined measuring windows (MFi(1...z). Signals (KSi(1...z) characterizing sound passing through a solid body and pertaining to individual cylinders are compared with individual threshold values (SWi(1...z) assigned to the individual cylinders (Zyli(1...z). When the threshold values (SWi(1...z) are exceeded it is checked, whether signals (KSi(1...z) characterizing the sound passing through the solid body surpass the threshold values (SWi(1...z) inside or outside the measuring window (MFi(1...z). When the threshold values (SWi(1...z) are exceeded inside the measuring window (MFi(1...z), injection performed by injectors of the injection device is then to be considered as defective.
