A clinical thermometer comprising at least a sensor (2) for detecting infrared radiation emitted by the patient, a logical unit (3) for processing the signal emitted by said sensor, display means (4) driven by said logical unit for displaying the body temperature of said patient measured by said thermometer, characterised in that, during measuring of said body temperature, said sensor is put at a preset distance (d) from the body of said patient, determined by means of an optical aiming system belonging to said thermometer and comprising means for generating a pair of light rays (5) and optical means (9) that cause the aforesaid light rays to converge in a preset point (P), said optical means being different from said generating means, the distance of said preset point from said sensor being equal to the said preset distance, said sensor, said logical unit, said display means, said means for generating said pair of light rays and said optical means being positioned inside the thermometer casing. 2701 י" ד בחשון התשס" ב - October 31, 2001
