The windings of the transformer are fitted on formers around three vertical column cores (30, 31, 32). The column cores are positioned equilaterally around a centerline (35). Toroidal yokes (33, 34) are mounted at the tops and bottoms of the columns with narrow air gaps (36, 37). The column cores have tangential laminations, while the yoke laminations are concentric.
