The method involves injecting cleaning agent into steam and contacting the mixture in the gaseous state with the dirt to be removed. An Independent claim is also included for dirt removing device. The dirt removing device comprises pump (I) connected to water supply container, steam generator for converting water into steam, stock container for cleaning agent which is connected to pump (II), application device and a regulating unit for supplying steam or cleaning agent to the application device. The steam generator has a supply line connected to pump (I) and a discharge line for discharge of steam. The application device is connected with discharge line. The discharge line of pump (II) is connected to discharge line of steam generator by means of connecting units.
