Mutants (I) of neutral thermolysine-like proteases (TLPs) that are active on dipeptides (II) having an aromatic amino acid (aa), or its 1-3C alkyl ester, at position P'1 (according to the Schecter-Berger nomenclature), where (I) differs from the wild-type sequence in having 202 Leu replaced by some other natural aa, is new. An Independent claim is also included for a composition containing (I) for enzymatic synthesis or cleavage of (II).
