Aluminum extrusion for frame of long skylight window, provides watertight seal but allows for differential expansion in extreme temperatures

The aluminum extrusion is produced in lengths of 4.2 meters. It is used to frame large skylight windows set into the roofs of buildings. The inner face of the upper edge (A) of the of the extrusion has parallel serrated grooves which grip the rubber sealing strip around the edge of the glass panel. The outer face of the lower edge (B) of the of the extrusion also has serrated grooves which grip the sealing strip between the frame and roof.
