The road obstruction (50) has a housing (21) sunken into a road surface (100), in which a top plate (22) is pivotable around a horizontal axis (23). At least one support column (24) is fixed rotatably at one end (25) under and to the top plate and at its other end (26) has a roller component (41). Running crossways to the pivot axis in the housing is a guide path (27) for the roller component. Activated by a fluid, is a cylinder/piston unit variable in length (28), which with one end (29) engages with the support column and with the other end (31) engages the housing. In the through passage state of the road obstruction, the top plate runs horizontally and closes off the housing from above. The road obstruction can be brought from a through passage state into an obstruction state by length variation of the cylinder/piston unit.
