The ester in a single component polyurethane foam reacts easily with water or atmospheric moisture at low temperatures and is decomposed into numerous molecules with reactive groups, i.e. groups which react with isocyanate groups, e.g. OH, COOH, or NH groups. A single component polyurethane foam containing at least one isocyanate group carrying prepolymer (isocyanate prepolymer), at least one expanding agent, and conventional adjuvants and additives is new. The foam contains at least one ester devoid of reactive hydrogen atoms, where the ester is the ester of a polybasic 2-7C carboxylic acid with a monohydric 1-7C alcohol, and/or a monobasic 1-7C monocarboxylic acid with a multihydric 2-7C alcohol, as agents for improvement of, complete curing and embrittlement-free curing at low temperatures and/or low atmospheric moisture content.
