Use of an NF-KB activation inhibitor selected from the group consisting of proteasome inhibitors, ubiquitin pathway inhibitors, agents that inhibit phosphorylation of IkB-a or p105, and mixtures thereof, in the preparation of medicaments for treating ischemia, reperfusion injury after ischemia preventing and reducing the size or lessening the severity of infarct resulting from ischemia or reperfusion injury.
