摘要
A gas-fired forced draft air heating furnace (10) is provided with a self-cooling draft inducer fan (42) that overlies an inshot-type burner section f the furnace and is operatively supported on a heat exchanger (22) plenum portion of the furnace housing (12). The fan motor (54) is supported on an outboard housing side of the fan, and an umbrella cooling fan (62) is coaxially secured to an outboard end of the fan drive shaft (56). During operation of the draft inducer fan (42), the umbrella fan (62) is rotationally driven to direct a flow of ambient cooling air (86) toward the outboard side (44a) of the draft inducer fan housing (42) in a manner causing the air flow to sequentially contact and cool the outer shaft end bearing area (5), the motor (54) windings and the inner shaft end bearing area (60) at the outer side of the draft inducer fan housing (44a). A baffle structure (52) mounted on the outer draft inducer fan housing side (44a) serves to guide the cooling air (86) flow along the inner shaft end bearing area (60) and shield the burner flames (32) from disruption by the cooling air flow area after it contacts the inner shaft end bearing area.
