"Tone Waveform Generating Method and Apparatus Based on Software" Plural tone waveform samples are generated collectively5 in advance of predetermined reproduction timing, and the generated tone waveform samples are temporarily stored in a buffer. The buffer is capable of writing and reading, independently of each other, in accordance with respective pointers. The write pointer advance is controlled so that10 the tone waveform samples are sequentially written into the buffer from the beginning of the buffer and, upon arrival at the end of the buffer, the write pointer gets back to the beginning of the buffer. Arithmetic operations for collectively generating the tone waveform samples based on15 automatic performance information and real-time performance information can be carried out independently of each other. An image control program, music control program and general control program are incorporated in single application software, and image display and music performance are20 executed in parallel and in correlation to each other.
