A measuring device comprising a load cell (18) and processor unit (20) is placed in one of the positions for the sample containers (16) inside the centrifuge. A device for measuring the forces acting upon samples being centrifuged includes a load cell and a processor unit. The external shape of the device is chosen so that it can be placed inside a casing (22) capable of being placed in one of the several positions inside the centrifuge for the sample containers, or alternatively the shape of the device enables it to be placed in one of the centrifuge positions without need for the casing.
