PURPOSE: An air conditioner and a controlling method thereof are provided to control the operation when losing a remote control. CONSTITUTION: The air conditioner comprises:a power source plug(5) connected into the body to break or re-supply the power source into the body; and a control unit(110) for dashing into the automatic operating mode if the time to the re-supplying after breaking the power by the power source plug(5) is shorter than a specific time.
