The differentiation of various tunny species in canned tunny products comprises sequential utilization of a set of restriction endonucleases on an amplified fragment of 187 bp called bdr of the b cytochrome in the mitochondrial ADN. Thus Thunnus thynnus, T. obesus and T. albacares and Katsuwonus pelamis are distinguished by fragments analysis.
