SYSTEM OF 'COMPUTER AIDED SURVEYING' FOR OBTAINING DIGITAL, 3D TOPOGRAPHIC INFORMATION

Method, at the disposal of surveying, for the compilation ofdigital files of detailed, three-dimensional, topographicdata, consisting of co-ordinates of points in the terrain andthe corresponding topographic point codes, line codes andplane codes; from at least three successive station positions,either photographically, or electronically panoramic record-ings are made from the surroundings of each station position.Each recordings contains the entire horizon, from the zenithto far under the horizon, so that a sequence of recordings areobtained. In a next step, compared to the local horizon-plane,the spatial directions are determined of each points in theterrain to-be-defined using measurement means and calculationmeans, which allow the determination with high precision, ofthe distance between the centre of the recording and pointsto-be-defined in co-ordinates and of the direction of the linebetween the centre of the recording and the point to-be-defin-ed in relation to a fixed orientation taken at random in thatrecording. Special measuring instruments are used.
