ELECTRONIC FLASH APPARATUS FOR REDUCING THE INCIDENCE OF HUMAN EYELID CLOSURES DURING EXPOSURE

Electronic flash apparatus is provided that is capable of reducingthe incidence of eyelid closure of a subject during an exposure intervalwhen the subject is illuminated with visible light from the electronicflash apparatus immediately prior to the exposure interval. Theelectronic flash apparatus includes a visible light flash tube and anelectrical circuit coupled thereto for controlling flash tube energizationand de-energization immediately prior to and during an exposureinterval. The electrical circuit includes apparatus for coupling the flashtube to a suitable source of electrical energy and for applying a triggersignal to the flash tube in order to illuminate the subject with a finiteamount of visible light immediately prior to an exposure interval thatwill not cause the eyelids of the subject to blink in response theretoduring the exposure interval.
