Dyeable fibers are formed from polypropylene byblending a major portion of polypropylene with a minorportion of 1) a copolymer of nylon 6,6 and substantiallyequimolar amounts of hexamethylene diamine and an alkalimetal salt of 5-sulfoisophthalic acid or 2) a basicreaction product of substantially equimolar amounts ofN-(2-aminoethyl) piperazine and adipic acid, hexamethylenediamine and adipic acid and optionally .epsilon.-caprolactam. Theblend is formed in an extruder and extruded into filamentswhich are quenched in air, stretched 2-4 x (preferably atan elevated temperature) and bulked using a jet of heatedturbulent fluid. The thusly bulked filaments are thendyed.
