PRELIMINARY OPERATION SYSTEM IN ATM NETWORK USING FLAG FOR INDICATING PRELIMINARY OPERATION MODE

A preliminary operation system in an ATM networkcapable of preventing the erroneous cell transmissions dueto the header transformation operation during the rewritingof the header transformation table, and recognizing cellsof different cell types without using additional hardwarecomponents. The system includes a header transformationtable for storing a header transformation informationincluding a flag for indicating a preliminary operationmode either in a form of a state of the headertransformation table or a type of cell for each cell; and apreliminary operation device for transforming a header ofeach cell into a format suitable for the ATM cell switch byutilizing the header transformation information stored inthe header transformation table, according to theindication of the flag.
