FRAME/SLOT SYNCHRONIZATION FOR U.S. DIGITAL CELLULAR TDMA RADIO TELEPHONE SYSTEM

Frame/slot synchronization is applied to a receivedTime Division Multiple Access (TDMA) signal and a temporalposition of a reference feature is acquired, such as asynchronizing bit stream or preamble, associated with adesired time slot. The desired time slot is but one of aplurality of time slots that comprise a frame. Verificationthat the acquired temporal position corresponds to thedesired time slot is performed by repetitively estimating atemporal position of the reference feature in a subsequentframe and sampling the subsequent frame at the estimatedtemporal position to determine if the reference feature ispresent. The temporal position of the reference feature ofthe desired time slot relative to the frame is maintainedover a plurality of received frames.
