Seismic data from co-located sensors of differentgenera are formatted into common velocity-receivergathers and common pressure receiver gathers. A firstratio between the velocity signature amplitudes and thepressure signature amplitudes is measured within a fixedanalysis window. A second ratio is measured between thepressure and velocity signatures for a weighting-zonewindow of limited extent. The first and second ratiosare combined to form an equalization operator. Thepressure and velocity signatures from within theweighting zone window are combined in the presence ofthe equalization operator to define a transient-freetime-scale datum.
