METHOD FOR REMOVING VIRTUALLY ALL THE SULPHUR COMPOUNDS H2S, SO2, COS AND/OR CS2 FROM SULPHUR PLANT WASTE GASES, AND RECOVERING SUCH COMPOUNDS AS SULPHUR
the waste gas is brought into contact with a unit (1) with a catalysthydrolysis of cos and cs2, h2s and, optionally, in the presence of a flowair with an oxidation catalyst for h2s to form a gas service(17) containing h2s and so2 and free of cos and cs2 in thevolume concentrations of h2s and so2) in the gas (17) for h2s.2 (so2) is greater than 0.2%, not more than 0.5%. the gas (17) isi brought in a unit (3a), in which h2s and so2 react to formwith the production of a sulfur containing substantially purified gas h2s (25a)as the only sulphur compound. the gas (25a) is injected between 80 and 100 ~ c ~ c.with an excess of air in a catalytic unit (4a) where h2s is oxidizedtotal sulfur. the waste gas recovered sulphur compoundsalmost entirely in the form of sulfur.
