A non-broadcast multi-access network systemcomprises a plurality of network servers at leastspecific one of which servers employs Next Hop ResolutionProtocol for converting a network layer address into acorresponding data link layer address. The specificnetwork server comprises a routing table access section(102) for accessing a routing table to refer to therouting table representative of a routing of a networklayer. An NHRP server table (103) stores server addressinformation of at least particular one of the networkservers and network layer address information of thenetwork layer managed by the particular network server asan address set. An NHRP server processing section (101)is supplied with a Next Hop Resolution Protocol packethaving a destination network layer address for accessingthe NHRP server table to judge whether or not thedestination network layer address exists in the addressset. The NHRP server processing section transmits theNext Hop Resolution Protocol packet to the particularnetwork server when the destination network layer addressexists in the address set. The NHRP server processingsection controls the routing table access section to makethe routing table access section refer to the routingtable when the destination network layer address does notexist in the address set.
