This invention relates to novel liquid, ultra-high molecular weightpolyurethane plasticizers which contain less than 5% of urethane groups,and to a process for the preparation of these polyurethane plasticizers.These comprise the reaction product of an organic isocyanate componentselected from the group consisting of monoisocyanates, diisocyanates,polyisocyanates and mixtures thereof; with an isocyanate-reactivecompound having a molecular weight of more than about 4,000, an OHnumber of 7 to 56 and a functionality of about 1 to about 4. This inventionalso relates to a process for the production of a polyurethane comprisingreacting a polyisocyanate with an isocyanate-reactive compound in thepresence of the liquid, ultra-high molecular weight polyurethaneplasticizers described herein, and to the resultant polyurethanescontaining these plasticizers.
