A method for conveniently quantitating creatinine discharged in urine wherebythe total amount of a urine component discharged and urine volume in adefinite period, which are usable as indications for finding diseases andhealth care, can be accurately determined without collecting urine; a methodfor measuring a urine component by using the creatinine level thus measured;and an apparatus for measuring a urine component. The first invention relatesto a method for quantitating creatinine discharged in urine which comprisesthe step of determining a regression formula showing the correlation betweenbody weight index and urine creatinine level, and the step of measuring thebody weight index of a subject and substituting it into the above formula. Thesecond invention relates to a method for measuring a urine component practicedwith the use of a value which is determined by dividing the urine creatininelevel determined by the method of the first invention with the creatinineconcentration in the urine specimen and multiplying the quotient by theconcentration of the substance to be determined in the urine specimen. Thethird invention relates to an apparatus for measuring a urine component withthe use of the method of the second invention.
