The present invention relates to a method for identifying an agent useful forthe treatment or prevention of a medical condition related to reduced cellularuptake of glucose, said method comprising the steps of: (i) identifying atarget polypeptide interacting with the compound U0126 (1,4-diamino-2,3-dicyano-1,4-bis[2-aminophenylthio]butadiene); (ii) contacting a candidateagent with the said target polypeptide; and (iii) determining whether saidcandidate agent modulates the biological activities of the said targetpolypeptide, such modulation being indicative for an agent useful for thetreatment or prevention of a medical condition related to reduced cellularuptake of glucose.
