PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit a prompt and exact measurement of the aging degree of skin with a small amount of DNA or permit a prompt, high-safety and high- sensitivity measurement of the aging degree of skin in no need of any radioactive label or with a reduced amount of the same. ;SOLUTION: This measurement process comprises the step in which the DNA extracted from scratched skin pieces is treated with an restriction enzyme to obtain a fragment having both cohesive chain end and the 3'-protruding end specific to the telomere (TRF) and the fragment is modified at both ends to form the blunt ends, the step in which the linkers are bonded to both of the blunt ends and is amplified through the PCR technique, and the step in which the amplified product partially including the whole sequence of the telomere is subjected to the electrophoresis to detect the average telomere length from the telomere length distribution detected by the labeled probe, and/or the aging degree of skin is measured by detecting the TRF with the probe for detecting telomere of high labeling rate.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
