The invention includes a method of operating a business-to-business e-commerce incubator. The method includes an incubator host having expertise in the petroleum industry, wherein said incubator host: searches for potential B2B eBusiness candidates in business units of the petroleum industry that can add direct and significant value to their operation by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of their business processes involving external suppliers, vendors, partners or government agencies; and wherein a plurality of B2B eBusiness candidates are identified; evaluates a plurality of at least a portion of said B2B eBusiness candidates surviving said screening in step (a) as potential eBusiness candidates that have the opportunity to provide value to business units of the petroleum industry, and grow in the open market, wherein at least a portion of said B2B eBusiness candidates survive said evaluation; pilots a plurality of at least a portion of said B2B eBusiness candidates in the order prioritized in step (b), wherein at least a portion of said B2B eBusiness candidates survive said piloting; launches a plurality of full implementations of at least a portion of said B2B eBusiness candidates surviving said piloting in step (c), wherein at least a portion of said B2B eBusiness candidates survive said lauching; wherein at least a portion of said B2B eBusiness candidates surviving said launching in step (d) create value for said incubator host; and wherein said incubator host contributes to said partnership, said incubator host's knowledge of the petroleum industry.
