The invention concerns compositions for cosmetic or dermatopharmaceutical use containing, in sufficient amount, an iImperata/i plant extract, in particular, iImperata cylindrica L/i. Said cosmetic or dermopharmaceutical compositions are advantageously used for maintaining skin elasticity at its maximum level through a high and long-lasting hydrating effect (due to high potassium concentrations in said extracts), thereby enabling to provide powerful anti-wrinkle effect countering, in the skin, harmful effects from ageing, pollution and other physical or chemical attacks; hair tonus through their high sulphur content, in the form of dimethylsulphopropionate (DMSP) or sulpholipids, of said extracts.
