The present invention discloses a novel polypeptide - human vacuolar proton-adenosine triphosphatase C subunit 9 and a polynucleotide encoding the same, as well as a method of producing the polypeptide by DNA recombinant technique. The present invention also discloses methods of using the polypeptide in treatment of various diseases, such as endocrine metabolic disorder, sexual development disorder, barrenness, abnormal development of reproductive organ, disorder of growth and development, tumor of some related tissues and so on. The present invention also discloses an antagonist against the polypeptide and the therapeutic use of the same. Also disclosed is the use of such novel polynucleotide encoding human vacuolar proton-adenosine triphosphatase C subunit 9.
