Rear guide device (40) for bars (31) to be machined on lathes (10) in general, obtained from a cylindrical structure of an external diameter corresponding to the internal diameter of the tubes (20) normally used in the drive heads (12) of lathes for rotating the spindle (13), comprising internal means of stabilization that can be operated by the user, to make the structure stable in said tube (20), forward means (80) to self-center and lock the rear end (32) of a bar (30) being machined inside the tube (20), to prevent oscillations and loosening of the bar due to vibrations, lack of homogeneity of the materials and to any other cause.
