The invention relates to a performance-based control method for a heating installation such as a condensing boiler system that is provided with a combustion chamber, a burner, a heat exchanger and a feeder for the heat transfer medium, in response to the heat requirements of a consumer. The invention also relates to a corresponding heating system. The aim of the invention is to develop a method and a heating system which overcomes the disadvantages of the prior art and which allows a cost-effective, fast and optimal, performance-based adaptation to the heat requirements of a consumer. To this end, the supply of mixture is adjusted in response to the heat requirement of a consumer in such a manner that a performance-based control of the heating system is guaranteed. To this end, the system is adjusted by means of at least one control device via the burner nozzle with respect to the volume and/or with respect to the pre-mix volume via a volume regulator and thus the burner surface across the effective surface and/or the combustion chamber volume and/or the heat exchanger volume and the heat exchanger surface.
