The invention relates to a method for obtaining aqueous hydrophilic polymer dispersions. The dispersions thus obtained are transparent and stable, having a high dry extract rate (30 %) and a low surfactant rate (6 %). They can be used in various applications such as water treatment and dewatering of sludge. They can also be used as retaining agents in the papermaking industry and as thickeners in areas such as paints, adhesives, the building trade, textiles and paper.
