The invention discloses a novel polypeptide, human protein 9 comprising the characteristic fragment of ribosomal protein L19, the polynucleotide encoding the same and the method of production thereof by DNA recombinant techniques. Methods of using the polypeptide for treating various diseases such as malignant tumors, hemopathy, developmental disorder, HIV infection, immune disease, and various inflammation are also disclosed. Furthermore, the invention discloses the antagonists of the polypeptide and the effects thereof. The use of the polynucleotide encoding the novel human protein 9 comprising the characteristic fragment of ribosomal protein L19 is also disclosed.
