A method for producing a photochemical reaction using a photochemical reaction apparatus having a plurality of discharge lamps arranged with a certain spacing which are lighted up by alternating current and the light emitting parts of which are immersed in a liquid containing a raw material, characterized in that at least two lamps having a least spacing therebetween are lighted up in an asynchronous manner wherein the at least two lamps have their respective light emission peaks at different times. The method can be used for enhancing a yield of a reaction product in a photochemical reaction apparatus used on a commercial scale and for improving the corrosion resistance of a photochemical reaction apparatus.
