A nonlethal projectile is driven to a target by a lethal projectile includes fired from a conventional firearm. The nonlethal projectile includes a hollow cylindrical body (1) which is closed off at one end and is adapted to be placed over the muzzle of a conventional ballistic weapon. The projectile includes a bullet trap (3), made of a bullet resistant material, which is disposed across the closed end of the cylindrical body so that the lethal projectile, once discharged, impacts on and is trapped by the bullet trap. The nonlethal projectile is thus propelled forward by the momentum of the lethal projectile. The tip of the nonlethal projectile may have a resilient or breakable impact head (4) arranged at the forward exterior area of the cylindrical body, adjacent to the closed end.
