VITAMIN D3-RESPONSE SEQUENCE LOCATED IN THE 5'-UPSTREAM OF p27/KiP1 GENE AND METHOD FOR SCREENING DRUG BY USING THE SEQUENCE

A 44bp region imparting vitamin D3-responsiveness to human p27Kip1 promoter in the human p27Kip1 transcriptional regulatory system. This region imparts the vitamin D¿3?-responsiveness to a heterogenous promoter too. It is also found out that vitamin D3 strengthens the bond between the CCAAT sequence existing in this region and the NF-Y protein and the bond between the Sp1 sequence and the Sp1 protein and thus human p27?Kip1¿ transcription is induced. A method for screening a drug which controls the expression of p27Kip1 gene with the use of these molecular mechanisms.
