ARRANGEMENT OF AN IMMERSED POURING NOZZLE IN AN INGOT MOULD FOR CONTINUOUS SLAB STEEL CASTING

The invention relates to an arrangement of a pouring nozzle immersed in an ingot mould having a substantially rectangular elongated cross section, for continuous casting of slabs, especially steel slabs. The immersed pouring nozzle has a pouring opening placed in a substantially horizontal position on one side and oriented towards the small side of the ingot mould. The upper edge of the pouring opening (5) is located at least 50 mm under the melt bath level (20) and the immersed pouring nozzle (2) is placed centrally relative to the large sides of the ingot mould (1). The distance (21) between the discharge point of the melt bath and the small side (6), towards which the melt flows, represents at least 1/3 of the length (22) of the large side of the ingot mould (1).
