A medical insertion linear body which is capable of well lubrication and smooth travel through a medical annular instrument and which has a suitable degree of stiffness, easy to operate and having high degree of peeling strength; and a method of producing the same. A spiral-impartible linear body having good imaging quality and pliability, simple in construction, requiring unsophisticated technique to produce, and high in productivity; and a medical insertion linear body using the same. The medical insertion linear body is characterized by having a covered core wire comprising a core wire and a vapor-deposited cover formed on the surface thereof. The spiral-impartible linear body is characterized by having a thick non-imaging spiral-impartible linear body section and an imaging spiral-impartible linear body section in the form of a thin non-imaging core wire which is integral with the non-imaging spiral-impartible linear body section and which has a cover of imaging metal formed on the surface thereof.
