Recombinant yeast expression vectors with the features indicated in the claims are described. These recombinant yeast expression vectors can be used to produce HBeAg in yeast host organisms. Corresponding expression systems, transformed host organisms, diagnostic aids and pharmaceutical compositions are also described.
