REPLACEMENT MATERIAL FOR SOFT PARTS OF TISSUES OR MUSCLES, METHOD FOR MAKING SAME, AND USE OF SAID MATERIAL IN GRAFTS

A replacement material for the soft parts of tissues or muscles, produced by specific high-pressure thermochemical processing of Spongia Officinalis or any other poriferan, said material thus being biocompatible. The Spongia Officinalis or other poriferan is initially beaten and washed in a water stream, thermochemically processed and dried in a hot air stream then sterilised using ionising radiation. The material is vacuum moulded to fit the anatomical shape of the lost matter to be replaced, and is useful in plastic, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery.
