This invention relates to a gas-liquid contactor for efficiently bringing a gas into contact with a slurry solution, and a wet flue-gas desulfurization system using the contactor. The contactor incorporated in the system comprises a tank (2) to be supplied with a slurry solution, a set of agitator bars (4) held above the bottom of the tank to be horizontally rotatable, a plurality of gas supply pipes (5) for supplying a gas to the vicinity of the agitator bars, nozzles (22) directed to the region through which the agitator bars rotate or to its vicinity, and a plurality of liquid supply pipes (21,23) for supplying a liquid to the nozzles.
